Whale watching

February is the month where the gentle giants of the sea, the humpback whales come into the bay. You will be able to see them play from the resort, but we will get close up and watch the whales on a unique boat trip. A once in a lifetime experience!

The Waterfall Hike and Horseback ride

This spectacular waterfall named “Salto El Limon” drops 150 feet into a natural, beautiful pool filled with fresh, crystal clear water. You can reach the top of the waterfall on horseback, then hike downwards through tropical jungle until you reach the bottom of this roaring cascade, where you can enjoy a refreshing swim in the big natural pool.

Adventure hike

Explore the undiscovered treasures of the Samaná peninsula. On our full-day hike we will visit Boca del Diablo, Playa Frontón and the rural area around Las Galeras. Starting with a boat in Las Galeras we will arrive Playa Fronton where we will enjoy the beach while drinking fresh coconut water. From there we walk along the unspoiled coastline and luscious, rich land.

Daily yoga & meditation immersion

Begin every morning with meditation and a 2 hour vinyasa flow to unite body, mind and spirit and to energise your whole being. In the evenings you will unwind from the day with a yin/restorative practice or expand your mind through holistic workshops. All classes are suitable for beginners and advanced practitioners.

Prepare for your trip

Expect 28°C daytime maximum temperatures in the shade with on average 8 hours of sunshine per day in Dominican Republic in January. So pack your swim suit and your snorkel, but do bring some layers for mornings and evenings. We will be heading out on several excursions so good hiking shoes and suitable clothes will be important. Also don't forget to pack plenty of comfortable clothes for the yoga practice and the workshops. Cosy is key! :-)

Although in Samana Bay the amount of mosquitos is a lot less than in other parts of the Caribbean, do bring some spray if you are allergic.

To enter the Dominican Republic it is enough to buy a tourist card, which you can get for $10 at the airport. If you don't like waiting there are options to buy the card online.
